The mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will begin its work in Ukraine on January 8, the IMF said in a statement obtained by Interfax-Ukraine on Dec. 29. 

“A team will begin its work in Kyiv on January 8, immediately after Orthodox
Christmas, as agreed with the authorities. The mission is expected to conclude
its work before the end of January,” reads the statement.

According to the statement, the IMF is moving expeditiously to continue
discussions with the Ukrainian authorities on the IMF-supported economic reform
program aiming to stabilize the Ukrainian economy and restore sustainable
growth.
