The head of the OSCE monitoring mission in Ukraine, Ertugrul Apakan, has expressed regret over the deaths of people in Odesa and urged all sides to exercise maximum restraint, avoid bloodshed and resolve their differences peacefully.

His statement was issued by the OSCE press office on Saturday.

The situation in the eastern and southern Ukrainian regions has worsened over the past 24 hours, leading to people’s deaths, Apakan said.

There is a need for de-escalation. The special monitoring mission is here to help achieve this goal. We are here for the Ukrainian people, said the head of the monitoring mission.
