You're reading: Government allocates Hr 800,000 in aid to families of 8 killed in Kharkiv Hartron fire

  Ukraine's government has allocated UAH 800,000 to Kharkiv Regional State Administration from the state budget reserve fund to provide material assistance to the families of eight people killed in a fire at Kharkiv Hartron plant – UAH 100,000 each.

The government took such decision at its sitting on Wednesday, according to a post on its Web site.

Kharkiv Regional State Administration must in a week-term approve the list of expenses meant to provide assistance to the families, allocate money, and by March 1, 2014 submit the report on the use of money.

As reported, eight people were killed, seven injured in a fire that broke out on January at Kharkiv Jewelry Factory, which is located on the territory of Hartron plant in Kharkiv. Twenty-two people were rescued. The cause of the fire and the damage are being established.

Criminal proceedings were launched under Part 2 of Article 270 of the Criminal Code (the violation of fire safety regulations that caused deaths).

Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office reported that the investigation is following two lines of inquiry – the violation of fire safety regulations and the violation of industrial safety rules.

On January 13, the prosecutor’s office of Kharkiv region put a suspect in the criminal investigation into the fire on the territory of Hartron on the wanted list.
