Brussels -- As many as 4,317 people were killed in the conflict-affected areas of eastern Ukraine from mid-April to Nov. 18, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said in a report released on Thursday.
A total of 9,921 people were wounded, it said.
“Since the ceasefire began, from September 6 up to November 18, 957 fatalities were recorded – 838 men and 119 women, although some may have been killed prior to the ceasefire, with the data only being recorded later,” the OHCHR said.
“The number of internally displaced people has also sharply increased from 275,489 as of 18 September to 466,829 on 19 November, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine,” it said.
The report also says that despite the ceasefire, abductions, torture, illegal detentions and civilian fatalities continue to be registered in eastern Ukraine.
