Ex-head of Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) Volodymyr Bondarenko has said he was glad Vitali Klitschko has been appointed as the new KCSA head, but added that he, as a deputy of Kyiv City Council, will watch over his activities at this post.

“I welcome him [Klitschko]. We need to allow people to show their worth, let them work,” he said at a press conference hosted by Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday that summed up the results of his 117-days work as KCSA head.

“I did my best, if anybody can do better – let them,” he said.

Bondarenko said that he had to work “actually under post-revolutionary and military conditions”, with a “good-for-nothing” budget and with Kyiv City Council not able to work. However, his team managed to ensure the stability of the work of the city’s economy, he added.

In particular, he managed to arrange about 500 bomb shelters, to restore the system of alternative water supply – water pump points, and to arrange the work of the center for administrative services.

Bondarenko also said that one of the accents in his work was placed on the policy of protectionism regarding Kyiv enterprises, in particular, pharmaceutical ones.

“Unfortunately, Kyiv business doesn’t work for the benefit of the city,” Bondarenko said.

The former KCSA chief said that he remains “a municipal politician” and is ready to share experience with the new leadership of the capital.
