Brussels - The European Parliament supports the signing of the Association Agreement with Ukraine and it is ready to promote its rapid implementation.

Now it is vitally important that the agreement be ratified quickly, European Parliament President Martin Schulz said at a meeting of the European Council in Brussels.

He said that the realization of the Association Agreement would be a driver of the required political and economic reforms in Ukraine, which will lead to the modernization of the country, strengthening of the rule of law and economic growth.

The European Parliament is obliged to vote the agreement under a fast-track procedure, he said.

As reported, Ukraine and EU finished the procedure for signing the Association Agreement on June 27 in Brussels. The Ukrainian parliament is to ratify the agreement.

The agreement is to be also ratified by the European Parliament and all 28 EU countries.
