Brussels - The Heads of State and Government of the member countries of the European Union will gather for a summit in Brussels on Oct. 23-24.

According to a senior European diplomat, one of the topics of the meeting will be the situation in Ukraine.

“The leaders will discuss how to achieve the full realization of the Minsk Agreement,” he said.

As reported, on Oct. 20 foreign ministers of the EU Member States at its meeting discussed the situation in Ukraine. They greeted reducing violence in the east of Ukraine and expressed the need for the complete fulfillment of the Minsk Agreement by all parties, including the Russian Federation.

The document calls for withdrawal of all illegal armed groups and military equipment from Ukraine, to ensure the safety of the Russian-Ukrainian border, hold fair parliamentary elections on Oct. 26 and the early local elections in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in December this year.
