Farmers in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts are using the services of the State Food-Grain Corporation, which is offering the free of charge acceptation of grain at its elevators.

“Grain acceptation in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts has started successfully. Our elevators accept from 5,000 to 8,000 tonnes of the new harvest every day. Of course, the situation of war, road checkpoints, dictate their specifics. Each head of the elevator in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts have their own established relations with producers. They are in contact with them,” Head of the corporation Petro Vovchuk said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

As reported, at the end of last month the State Food-Grain Corporation decided to cancel the fee for the acceptation of grain at its elevators for farmers from Donetsk and Luhansk oblsats. It was planned to allow sending grain free of charge to five elevators of the corporation in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and five in Kharkiv oblast.

In August 2010, the government decided to create the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine. The corporation has a chain of branches – grain storage facilities, flourmills, fodder factories and a cereals factory. The 44 subdivisions of the corporation can store a total of 3.46 million tonnes of grain, which includes the grain handling capacities of Odesa and Mykolaiv ports of around 2.5 million tonnes of grain cargo per year.
