MOSCOW - The public of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has demanded that the Ukrainian administration fulfill its social obligations to residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.

“We are deeply insulted by the decision made by the Ukrainian government to virtually confiscate the lawful pensions and social benefits of our war veterans, pensioners, people with disabilities and mothers. We believe Kyiv’s decision is unacceptable and insulting not only to them, but to any citizen of Ukraine,” the DPR said in an address posted on its official website on Nov. 12.

The authors of the document demand that Kyiv immediately reconsider its decision not to fulfill all social obligations to residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk Obasts who are located on territories not controlled by Kyiv envisaged by the Ukrainian legislation.

The address was signed by Andrei Yakovenko, the head of the Coordination Council of the Public Associations of Donbas, Oleg Akimov, chairman of the LPR Trade Union Federation, and other public figures.

On Nov. 5, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said the government will not finance the territories of Donbas uncontrolled by Kyiv.
