You're reading: Defence Ministry: Most money donated by Ukrainians to be used to purchase body armor for soldiers

Ukrainians have donated Hr 119.3 million to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and most of this money will be used to buy material and technical equipment, First Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Bohdan Butsa has said.

“As of May 7, Hr 119.3 million has been transferred to the accounts
of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine as aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces
from private persons and legal entities. Hr 112.4 million of this
consists of money transfers for material and technical equipment, and
the rest for medical supplies,” he said during the press briefing in
Kyiv on Saturday.

“Most of the money will be used to buy military uniforms and gear, bulletproof helmets, vests and medicines,” Butsa specified.

In addition, according to him, $89,900 and euro 37,600 have been also transferred to the accounts of the Defense Ministry.

He said that the government would soon adopt a decree on the
effective use of the money, and a commission, including representatives
of the public, would be created to monitor the spending of the money as
well.
