Moscow - Croatian Ambassador in Moscow Igor Pokaz has declined to compare the Ukrainian crisis with the 1990s situation in the former Yugoslavia.

“I would rather not compare the situation in Ukraine with the 1990s
in the former Yugoslavia. Every crisis, every situation is unique and
derives from different historical backgrounds,” the diplomat said in an
interview with Interfax.

“Alas, the only thing these two crises have in common is human deaths
and the damage done to residential buildings and the infrastructure,”
the ambassador pointed out.

Yet the ambassador said he hoped for the diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.

“We also stand for the continuation of the dialogue with Russia; it
is necessary to take the position of Moscow into consideration and to
involve it in the crisis settlement process. We think Russia has taken a
number of positive steps in that direction in the past few weeks,”
Pokaz said.
