London - Canada will introduce new restrictive measures against some Russian individuals and legal entities due to the crash of a Malaysian passenger plane.

“The outrageous and criminal act of shooting down a civilian airliner
last week is a direct product of Russia’s military aggression and
illegal occupation of Ukraine, and demonstrates the need for the
international community to continue applying pressure on the Putin
regime,” he said in a statement on July 21.

Meanwhile, BBC, citing Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird, said it
was expected that Canada will impose sanctions on Russia in coordination
with its allies. The minister said the Canadian leadership is
considering introducing sanctions against individual sectors of the
Russian economy.

Canada previously imposed economic and visa sanctions on a number of
individuals and legal entities in Russia due to the situation in
Ukraine.
