Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine Valentin Velichko has said there has been an increase in the transit of Ukrainian goods through Belarus.

“There are huge queues at the border crossings of Ukraine and Belarus, (as) goods are being transited through Belarus,” Velichko said at a press conference in Kyiv.

In his opinion, this is due to the existence of the Commonwealth of Independent States free trade zone, which includes Ukraine and Belarus, but he said he would not forecast “how this will develop.”

According to him, Belarus intends to maintain friendly relations with Ukraine, despite the signing of the Association Agreement and that on a free trade zone with the EU.

“Belarus is okay with the fact that Ukraine has signed the Association Agreement. We firmly believe that Ukraine will remain a good neighbor for us,” Velichko said.
