You're reading: Batkivschyna approves candidates list and accepts Nadia Savchenko into party and political council

 The 13th convention of the Batkivschyna all-Ukrainian union on Sept. 15 in Kyiv approved its candidates list for the early parliamentary elections.

 Among the first ten people on the list are: MPs Borys Tarasiuk, Andriy Kozhemiakin, Serhiy Vlasenko, Oleksandra Kuzhel, Oleksandr Abdulin, Andriy Shevchenko, Andriy Senchenko, Andriy Pavlovsky, Valeriy Sushkevych, Oleksandr Chubatenko, Viktor Shvets and acting Luhansk governor Iryna Verihina.

At the convention, over 180 candidates were nominated in single-seat constituencies, particularly MPs Yuriy Odarchenko and Volodymyr Bondarenko.

Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko, under arrest in Russia, was accepted as a party member at the convention. Her written application with corresponding request had been passed on to the convention earlier. Savchenko was also included on the party’s political council and the presidium of the political council.

As reported earlier, Batkivschyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko suggested that Savchenko be included on the party’s election list as number one. Tymoshenko herself was placed second in a vote by the party voted.

Number three on the list is Head of Culture and Tourism Commission of Kyiv City State Administration, Euromaidan activist Ihor Lutsenko. Number four is Head of Batkivschyna faction in the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation, Serhiy Sobolev, and number five is public figure and human rights activist, representative of “Professional Government” organization Olena Shkrum.
