Kyiv-based AXA Insurance has reported that it is stopping its operations in Crimea: starting from April 18, 2014 all the offices of the company will be closed due to absence of legal grounds for the operation of financial institutions on the peninsula, according to the insurer's Web site.

“Due to the absence of laws to conduct business we have to stop our
operations in Crimea. We will continue to fulfill our obligations to
existing clients in Crimea by providing services through the
contact-center, reliable local partners and by other available means,”
Chairman of the Board of the company Philip Votle said in a press
release.

According to him, AXA Insurance is going to continue conducting
business in Ukraine, as it is a strategically important market for the
AXA Group and their plans for it are long-term ones.

AXA Insurance is part of the AXA international financial group
(France). It has been working on the Ukrainian market since 2007. Nearly
1,000 employees work in the company, and it has 2,300 agents working
all around Ukraine.
