The Ukrainian National Guard will have new weapons in the near future, Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said.

“The National Guard will have new types of weapons in the near future under contracts that have been concluded, namely the state-of-the-art heavy 12.7-mm sniper systems and tandem rounds for grenade launchers, which are extremely effective tools for enemy armor. Very opportune. There is something else that would do without announcement but will be super-opportune and unexpectedly tough for the enemy,” Avakov said on Facebook.

The minister also touched upon the transfer of the Interior Ministry’s Azov special regiment to the National Guard. “The Interior Ministry’s special regiment Azov’s transfer to the National Guard is in full swing. A new structure, a new and higher combat training standard, weapons, and equipment. The regiment has two bases, in Mariupol and in the Kyiv region,” he said.

A new National Guard brigade based in Kharkiv is being deployed in the military operation area in the eastern part of Ukraine to replace a unit that has served there for 1.5 months, Avakov said. “Ammunition and weapons included,” he added.
