You're reading: Avakov: Over 90 employees dismissed from Interior Ministry under lustration law

Some 91 police officers, including eight generals, have already been dismissed from the Interior Ministry of Ukraine in accordance with the law on lustration, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has said.

“In general, during the first phase 91 officials from those who held senior positions in the ministry and its territorial authorities have been dismissed under my order, including eight generals,” the minister wrote on his page on Facebook.

Among the dismissed are the chiefs of the following regional interior ministry authorities: Kyiv, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Poltava regions; the leadership of the security service department and the units of the State Automobile Inspectorate, the minister said.

“Work in the framework of the law is continuing. We are also continuing to form a new staff policy, step by step,” Avakov added.
