Members of illegal armed groups have attacked Ukrainian positions in Donbas with mortars and light weapons seven times in the past 24 hours, the press center for the anti-terrorist operation has reported.

“Shots were fired near the populated localities of Frunze, Chornukhyne and Orlovo-Ivanivka. Donetsk international airport defenders thrice came under bandit fire from the old terminal and an Orthodox monastery,” the press center said in a report posted on Facebook on Dec.15.

The Ukrainian army “has launched anti-sabotage operations” amid the lull, the report said. The army “is checking the deployment and provision of personnel and the availability and condition of weaponry and military hardware. Servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are practicing in order to improve their professional skills and to ensure their permanent combat preparedness,” the press center said.

Troops deployed in the Mariupol area have practiced the deterrence of a landing operation of the marines and terrain reinforcement.
