Ukrainian security forces are mopping up Sloviansk, providing maximum protection to civilians, speaker of the information center of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Andriy Lysenko has reported.
“Sloviansk is surrounded, now individual bandit groups, who are hiding in civilians’ homes, are being liquidated,” Lysenko said at a briefing.
Groups of terrorists, fleeing from Sloviansk, face Ukrainian military men.
According to him, the president of Ukraine set the task when mopping up the city to ensure the maximum protection of civilians.
At the same time, the ATO has no information about the exact number of civilians remaining in the city.
Lysenko also said that information about the desertion of “DPR Defense Minister” Igor Girkin-Strelkov is being verified.
