A total of 680 Ukrainian troops were taken prisoner in the fighting in Donbas in the past few days, Colonel-General in Reserve Volodymyr Ruban, the head of the prisoner exchange center, said on Sept. 1, according to Channel 5 Five television.
Ruban said the information on the number of Ukrainians taken prisoner near Ilovaisk is secret. “I can’t discuss it while the operation continues,” he said.
Ruban also said at “680 Ukrainian hostages are being taken to Donetsk and feeding them is becoming a problem.”
Ruban said the Dnepropetrovsk region is preparing a humanitarian train to take food to Donetsk to feed the Ukrainian hostages.
