New York – Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon has called Russia and Ukraine to work together to deliver humanitarian aid to the most affected areas in Ukraine's east.

“Once again, the Secretary-General urges all sides, in particular Ukraine and the Russian Federation, to continue to work together, in coordination with the international community, to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches the most affected areas,” reads an Aug. 22 statement attributable to the spokesman for the Secretary-General on Ukraine, available on the UN’s Web site.

Ban Ki-moon reiterated that all sides should continue to exercise maximum restraint and avoid escalation in Ukraine’s east.
