State Duma Council members are prepared for European sanctions, State Duma First Vice-Speaker, Russian Communist Party Central Committee First Deputy Chairman Ivan Melnikov said on Wednesday.
“My faction comrades and I, who are members of the [State Duma]
Council, are prepared for this,” Melnikov told Interfax, referring to
the EU blacklist, which included the entire State Duma Council,
published by the media.
State Duma deputies said earlier that practically all members of the
Russian parliament were ready for those sanctions, Melnikov recalled.
“Naturally, State Duma Council is prepared, as well,” he added.
“The United States and the European Union disregard the blatant
suppression of dissidence in Ukraine: from bloody beatings in the street
to the use of force in the parliament,” he said.
“It is hard to expect farsightedness from the shortsighted,” he said.
