MOSCOW - The Russian commission on issues relating to military-technical cooperation with foreign countries, which was held on May 25 and was chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin, has summed up the results of the work done in this sphere in 2014 and specified the plans for the next three years.

“The export of Russian military-purpose products exceeded 415.5 billion in 2014 and it has been at stable at this level for the past three years,” Putin said.

“Russia confidently comes second on the list of the world’s leaders in weapons and military equipment supply and that is, of course, a serious achievement on this difficult and dynamically developing market,” Putin said.

“According to international institutions, the first country on the list is the United States with 31 percent and Russia comes second, like I said, with 27 percent of the market. All other players are considerably behind,” Putin said.

Putin thanked the Russian weapons manufacturers, who maintain the best traditions of Russian defense production year after year and design and manufacture the most difficult and the most modern military equipment that is capable of competing on the global scene.

“The parameters that have been achieved are a result of systemic work aimed at promoting Russian technologies and products in the sphere of military-technical cooperation. Last year, our military equipment manufactures participated in 24 international exhibits, domestic products were supplied to 62 countries of the world, and Russia generally has agreements on military-technical cooperation with 91 countries of the world,” Putin said.
