The State Aviation Service of Ukraine reports it is in talks with the Untied States on the liberalization of airspace, service chief Denys Antoniuk said at a press conference in Kyiv on Nov. 19.

“I hope the first improvement in that issue will appear as early as in summer 2015,” he said.

“As was reported, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration in September 2013 transferred Ukraine to the first category from the second one according to safety criteria under the International Aviation Safety Assessment Program (IASA).

This allows Ukrainian airlines to extend the flight geography and launch direct flights to the Untied States, which previously was impossible due to Ukraine’s being in the second category.
