You're reading: Tymoshenko submits documents for registration as presidential candidate to CEC

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has submitted documents to the Central Elections Commission (CEC) for registration as presidential candidate.

Interfax-Ukraine was told that Tymoshenko personally submitted the full package of documents, including a certificate on contributing a monetary deposit of UAH 2.5 million, becoming the 17th contender for the post of president. By now CEC has officially registered five of them.

Earlier on Saturday the twelfth congress of the Batkivschyna Party nominated its leader Yulia Tymoshenko for the post of Ukrainian president.

The 482 delegates unanimously voted for this decision, according to leader of the Batkivschyna faction Serhiy Sobolev.
