Granting of the status of a member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE to Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko, who is held in custody in Russia, will favor her release, Batkivschyna party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said.

‘I have an absolutely clear action plan and my trip to Strasbourg, meetings with the leadership of the Council of Europe, PACE had an ulterior motive. After Nadia Savchenko is elected as Ukrainian MP, we’ll take a decision, as a faction, to delegate the party’s top candidate to parliament to be part of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE in the future,’ she said live on Shuster LIVE TV program on Sept. 30.

According to Tymoshenko, PACE members are granted a special diplomatic status, and nobody will keep PACE member in prison in another country.

Tymoshenko said that Ukrainian authorities are doing nothing to liberate Savchenko.

‘She was on none of the lists for prisoner exchanges; she wasn’t a subject of any of high negotiations as a person who should be released,’ Tymoshenko said.
