You're reading: Putin: Ukraine can preserve territorial integrity only if it stops war

Sochi -- If Ukraine wants to preserve its territorial integrity, it should stop the war and arrange a dialogue with the southeastern part of the country, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“What should be done above all now is stop the war immediately and separate [the warring parties]. You see, if Ukraine wants to preserve its territorial integrity, which we also want, then it’s necessary to understand that it’s wrong to cling to some village there. This is senseless. After all, what makes sense is that the bloodshed be stopped and dialogue started. And based on this dialogue relations should be built and some communications should be restored, primarily in the economic field,” Putin said at the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi on Friday.
