In a phone conversation with Swiss President and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Didier Burkhalter, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his deep condolences over the death of ICRC worker and Swiss citizen Laurent Etienne Du Pasquier in Donetsk on Oct. 2, the Kremlin press service has reported.

“While exchanging opinions on the situation in Ukraine, the conversation participants reiterated the importance of close observance of the agreements reached in the meeting of the Contact group in Minsk, primarily the ceasefire regime by the parties of the conflict in Ukraine. They gave positive marks to the work of the OSCE Monitoring Mission and reiterated the need to increase its potential,” the report says.

Putin and Burkhalter also spoke in favor of an in-depth investigation into the causes of the crash of the Malaysian airliner and the mass graves of civilians found in Ukraine. “Attention was also given to issues relating to the security of OSCO officials, including in the context of the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in Ukraine on Oct. 26,” the report says.

Putin and Burkhalter agreed to continue contacts, the press service said.
