Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that he will nominate Arseniy Yatseniuk to the post of the prime minister as soon as the newly elected Verkhovna Rada starts working and said he hopes that the coalition will support this proposal.

“I completed the creation of political preconditions for change by [calling] the early parliamentary elections. And the first meeting of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada should be held next week. And I will immediately submit to parliament for approval the candidacy of the prime minister, which, according to the Constitution, will be offered to me by the coalition. Based on the unity of democratic forces, I expect that the coalition will accept my proposal to nominate Yatseniuk for this position,” reads the statement by the president on the occasion of the Day of Freedom and Dignity, published on the president’s website on Friday night.
