Zhytomyr region – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko claims that the combat potential of his army has been restored in full today.

“We are having active hostilities. The combat potential of our units have now been restored in full. As of September 5, they had only 20% of the required military hardware. Today they are equipped by 100% and are prepared to defend themselves,” he told reporters in Zhytomyr region on Monday, after new military hardware was handed over to the Armed Forces.

Ukrainian soldiers were ordered to open fire in response to the adversary’s attacks, the president said.

“But today our servicemen have systems of counter-battery and counter-mortar operations, as well as sniper rifles. Ukrainian servicemen are well-trained today, and the effectiveness of their activities has seriously improved. This is how we are taking advantage of it [ceasefire],” Poroshenko said.
