The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry of Ukraine is ready to create a conciliation commission to settle the issues of reforming the coal sector and social problems of coalmines, the press service of the ministry reported on Jan. 28.
The press service said that the conciliation commission will be formed out of representatives of the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry and the Social Policy Ministry, Finance Ministry, the National Commission of Ukraine for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER), Vuhillia Ukrainy state enterprise, Energomarket state enterprise, trade unions and lawmakers interested in the issue.
A program on reformation of the coal sector in Ukraine will be formed by the commission. The commission will submit it to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.
“The program will have mechanisms for social protection of miners, including financial compensation if coalmines are closed, and mechanisms for settling other issues linked to the sector reforms,” the ministry said.
