Moscow - The Russian government has not agreed on sanctions against the West in the industrial sector, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told journalists on Aug. 28.

As of today, no additional restrictive measures have been taken by the Russian government, he said.

“Accordingly, we at the Industry and Trade Ministry have not prepared such additional measures,” Manturov added.

Two sources from the financial and economic realm of the government told Interfax in early August that Russia was preparing a second round of retaliatory sanctions that concern not agriculture, but industry.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in early August that aside from the embargo on an entire array of food from the EU, U.S., Australia, Canada and Norway, Russia was ready to take preventative measures in industrial sectors.

“We are potentially ready to introduce protective measures in aircraft building, shipbuilding, automobile, and other sectors,” Medvedev said in opening a government meeting.

“The government understands how significant cooperation in this area is. But, naturally, we realistically assess our own capabilities as well,” he said.
