You're reading: NBU governor, World Bank mission discuss preparation of loan for development of financial sector

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeriya Gontareva on Wednesday, June 25, held a meeting with World Bank Country Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Qimiao Fan and representatives of the evaluation mission of the World Bank on the first program loan for the policy of developing the financial sector, reads a posting on the NBU's Web site.

“The sides agreed that they will consolidate efforts for the successful realization of the program on the development of the domestic financial sector and support of the constructive dialog on settling all possible issues,” reads the report.

According to the NBU, the World Bank mission started working in Ukraine on June 23. Its task is to assess the steps on the reformation of the Ukrainian financial sector and the realization of all preliminary measures.

At the meeting the sides discussed the increase of efficiency of operation of the Individuals’ Deposit Guarantee Fund, ways of its financial support and the improvement of mechanisms for removing insolvent banks from the market.

As reported, the Board of Directors of the World Bank on May 22 approved three new loans worth $1.48 billion for Ukraine to support important structural and macroeconomic reforms. The bank approved the provision of a first disbursement of $750 million under the development policy loan (DPL-1).
