Shostka-based Impulse state plant (Sumy region), part of Ukroboronprom State Concern, and Tomsk instrument plant (Russia) are preparing a joint development for the market – an electronic detonator for blasting in the mining industry.

According to the press service of the state concern, the next generation detonators were recently tested in Shostka.

According to the press service, compared to conventional detonators, the electronic detonator has a key advantage – no wires. This allows it to set of explosions within a millisecond, and also makes it safer to manufacture and transport, the state concern said.

According to the plant, in the joint project, the cost of which is not disclosed, the Ukrainian side contributes detonator assembly and the supply of most components, while Russia supplies electronics.

The completion of industrial tests in full and the certification of the joint development are to be performed in two years.
