You're reading: Economic court in Kyiv permits to collect Hr 228 million from Bank Nadra

The economic court in Kyiv under a claim of Prosecutor General's Office of Kyiv has collected Hr 228.14 million of credits rates under a credit agreement from Bank Nadra in favor of the State Mortgage Institution (SMI).

According to a Wednesday report of the Prosecutor General’s Office,
the court issued the ruling on Aug.1, and the ruling could be
appeared in the court of appeals.

Prosecutor General’s Office said that in 2008, Bank Nadra and SMI
signed a refinancing credit agreement, under which the bank received a
credit of Hr 700 million.

“The Prosecutor General’s Office’s check showed that the commercial
organization was to return the funds in 2009. However, the bank
continued illegally use the money for another four years, and a
many-million debt has appeared,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

According to the materials of the case, the credit was issued on
October 15, 2008 for the period until April 10, 2009, and on March 23,
2009 the sum of the credit was revised to Hr 693.6 million. The funds
were paid back only in late January 2013.

The Prosecutor General and the SMI asked the court to collect the
credit rates from the defender for the use of the funds at the level of
the discount rate of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), which totaled
UAH 228.14 million.

Bank Nadra was founded in 1993. Its owner Centragas Holding AG
(89.9659 percent), affiliated with Group DF, which is owned by Dmytro Firtash.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, Bank Nadra as of July 1,
2014 in terms of total assets ranked ninth (Hr 37.11 billion) among the
173 banks operating in the country.
