CHISINAU - Court in Chisinau sentenced former Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat to a total of nine years in prison.

On June 27, the court has pronounced a verdict against Filat on two charges. He was sentenced to eight years in prison on one charge, nine years – on the second charge.

The judge is reading out a verdict during a court session, which is under way behind closed doors.
