You're reading: Ukrainian military reports 14 shell attacks in Donbas on May 31

Militants have continued shelling Ukrainian military positions in Donbas throughout May 31, with a total of 14 shell attacks registered between midnight and 6 p.m., the anti-terrorist operation headquarters' press center said on Facebook.

“At midnight, the enemy fired various grenade launchers and large-caliber machine-guns near Stanytsia Luhanska,” the statement said, adding that the enemy also used 120-millimeter mortars, which are banned by the Minsk agreements, against Ukrainian military positions near Pavlopil and Novosylivka.

“Militants used 82-millimeter mortars near Opytne and fired small arms, large-caliber machineguns and automatic grenade launchers against defenders of Avdiyivka thrice since midnight. Near Svitlodarsk and Luhanske, the enemy fired small arms and various grenade launchers against our positions,” the statement said.

On several occasions, Ukrainian fighters opened fire in response, the headquarters said.
