The Ukrainian Energy and Coal Ministry assures it will maintain Ukraine's power grids without power cuts amid electricity consumption peaks due to the heat, but says it is necessary to create an anti-crisis headquarters to ease decision-making, Minister Ihor Nasalyk said.
“We don’t import a single kWh of electricity. We don’t use oil and gas blocks, neither do we resort to rolling power cuts. I can assure that this will be the same way,” he said on NewsOne on July 14 evening.
The minister says that the situation with energy consumption isn’t easy in Ukraine every July-August compared to January-February, as every degree above zero adds 100 MW in consumption.
“I’ll insist on creating a crisis headquarters, which would, on an ongoing basis, address all issues that appear,” he said.
In his words, such a headquarters has almost been formed. It will include the deputy prime minister for energy issues and all necessary specialists.
Nasalyk says he hopes that the problem of growing power consumption will be resolved due to the formation of resources, taking certain technical issues, including in the nuclear power generation sector, and an increase in power exports.
