A corresponding letter was sent to President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach, Ukrainian Minister of Youth and Sports Ihor Zhdanov wrote on his Facebook page.

“The National Anti-Doping Center wishes to join the anti-doping agencies of the countries advocating the removal of the Russian Federation from the participation in the 31st Olympic Games in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. The independent investigation by World Anti-Doping Agency has proved that the Russian Ministry of Sports with the assistance of the Russian secret services deliberately violated the fundamental principles the Olympic movement, the Olympic Charter and the Code of Ethics by WADA,” the latter signed by National Anti-Doping Center director Ivan Kurlyschuk reads.

It says that the Russian authorities, “due to the state doping program have helped their athletes to achieve good results for many years.”

Zhdanov also pointed out that Russia has in fact violated the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport, adopted on Oct. 19.

“So we all expect that ‘the reward’ from the IOC will soon find these ‘heroes’,” the minister stressed.
