Ukraine, Georgia, Albania, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, Norway join EU’s extended sanctions over Crimea

Ukraine, Georgia, Albania, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, and Norway have joined the EU Council's decision to extend the sanctions over the annexation by Russia of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, the Council of the European Union said in a statement.

“The Candidate Countries Montenegro and Albania, and the EFTA countries Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine, and Georgia align themselves with this Council Decision,” the Council said in a statement. “They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision. The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it,” the statement said.

The Council on June 17, 2016, decided to extend the existing sanctions until June 23, 2017.
