The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) has deported a Russian woman who could be linked to the international terrorist organization Islamic State (banned in Russia).

The 26-year-old Russian woman arrived in Kharkiv on Sept. 10 on a flight from Istanbul, an SBU spokesperson said on Sept. 13.

While going through border control, she was unable to explain the purpose of her visit to Ukraine, other than that she had been deported from Turkey for links with ISIL, the SBU said.

The Russian woman got mixed up about her biographical data and was unable to say what she did in Turkey.

“For the sake of protecting national security interests, the SBU on Sept. 12 decided to deport the Russian woman from Ukraine. On the same day she voluntarily left for Russia,” the spokesperson said.
