You're reading: UEFA grants Dynamo’s appeal, it will play against Manchester City with spectators

The UEFA Appeals Body has granted an appeal of FC Dynamo Kyiv and now the team will be able to play the Feb. 24 match versus Manchester City with spectators.

The agency reduced the number of matches of UEFA Champions League,, which Dynamo should play behind closed doors from two to one, according to a report posted on the website of the organization.

In addition, the Ukrainian club is to pay a fine of 50,000. Thus UEFA Appeals Body has halved the amount of the fine.

As reported, Dynamo Kyiv fans had attacked Chelsea fans, including black ones, at Dynamo Kyiv’s home arena hosting the Oct. 20 match.

The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) ordered Dynamo Kyiv to hold two UEFA matches behind close doors and pay a fine of 100,000.

Dynamo Kyiv filed an appeal against the decision.

The club has already played one match of the UEFA Champions League 2015/2016 vs Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC on Dec. 9, behind closed doors. Thus the club has already served this sanction.

On Jan. 4, Ukraine’s prosecutor’s office reported that Pechersky District Court of Kyiv announced a judgment in the case against a 22-year-old man who started the fight during a Champions League football match at the Olympiysky Stadium in Kyiv on Oct. 20. He received a 2-year suspended sentence, with a probation period of one year.
