President of the European Council Donald Tusk has assured Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that his country remains among the European Union's priorities and solidarity with Ukraine amid external aggression will be discussed, including in the framework of informal meetings of EU member states in Bratislava in September.

“We remain firm as for support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the Ukrainian presidential press service quoted Tusk as saying over the phone during a recent conversation with Poroshenko.

He also confirmed his position as for maintaining anti-Russian sanctions over Ukraine.

Further, Tusk praised the actions of Poroshenko and the balanced position of the Ukrainian side, which does not react to Russian provocations in Crimea.

The two sides also discussed prospects for a decision on EU visa liberalization for Ukraine in the near future and agreed on further coordinated steps in this direction.
