The National Police will protect participants of the March of Equality in Kyiv on June 12, 5,000 police officers will ensure law and order and respond to provocation.

“The work of the National Police of Ukraine is to protect everybody. For us there are no privileged or less important people, so on June 12, 5,000 police officers will protect the March of Equality and the National Police of Ukraine will respond to all provocations,” Head of Ukraine’s National Police Khatia Dekanoidze said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

“The Equality March will take place,” Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said for his part.

According to Dekanoidze, they will put on alert the entire staff of Kyiv police and more than 1,000 of servicemen of the National Guard.

“It is time to think that Ukraine is a civilized country, and our place is in the community of civilized countries,” she added.

Dekanoidze also expressed confidence that the Equality March will be held without any serious violations.
