Real wages in Ukraine in May 2016 increased by 12.2% year-on-year, and by 1.6% from April 2016, the State Statistics Service has reported.

The average wage of regular workers in Ukraine in May 2016 year-over-year increased by 23.3% year-on-year, while compared to April 2016 wages grew by 1.8%, reaching Hr 4,984 (Hr 4,895 in April, Hr 4,920 in March, Hr 4,858 in February and Hr 4,362 in January).

According to its data, real wages in May 2016 year-over-year grew in Zakarpattia (29.8%), Kherson (29.7%), Mykolaiv (27.5%), Chernivtsi (27.1%), Zhytomyr (25.3%), Ternopil (25.2%), Ivano-Frankivsk (24.2%), Kyiv and Lviv (23.6% each), Odesa (22.3%), Kharkiv (21.2%) regions and Kyiv city (27.6%). In Donetsk and Luhansk regions wages grew by 20.7% and 41.7% respectively.The highest average level of salaries last month was recorded in Kyiv city (Hr 8,080), the lowest – in Ternopil region (Hr 3,630).

In May 2016, wages increased in IT and telecommunications (36.1%), public administration and defense, obligatory social insurance (27.6%), construction (29.4%), administrative and auxiliary servicing (28%), education (27.9%), wholesale and retail trade, vehicles repair (27%), healthcare (26.2%), financial and insurance activities (25.7%), transport, warehouse companies and courier activities (24.4%), sports, arts, entertainment and recreation (24.1%), accommodation and catering (24.2%), industry (20.4%), agriculture (15.3%) and professional and scientific activities (12.9%).
