U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt and Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Ihor Rainin have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding and deepening trade and investment ties, as well as developing cooperation in the field of science, technology, social and humanitarian spheres, according to the embassy.

“Kharkiv is known for its scientific, technical, academic and research communities. I am pleased to join Governor Rainin in signing a memorandum of understanding, which will further strengthen our already reliable cooperation with Kharkiv region, which will help create more and better jobs, as well as promote diverse economic opportunities,” Pyatt said during memorandum signing at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv.

The report notes that the memorandum of understanding will contribute to the development of cooperation between Kharkiv region and U.S. business associations helping the region attract investment, while local production facilities and industrial enterprises work to become more modern, energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

The memorandum of understanding also provides for enhanced practical cooperation in the sphere of science, education and technology, including through the formation of new connections between Kharkiv region and U.S. universities, research centers and scientific councils.
