The Military Prosecutor's Office has launched criminal proceedings in connection with the October 13 rally outside the Ukrainian presidential administration building held by conscripts of the National Guard of Ukraine, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Vitaliy Yarema has said.
‘The Military Prosecutor’s Office has launched criminal proceedings and is working to establish the people who organized this so-called rally,’ the Ukrainian prosecutor general told reporters in the Verkhovna Rada.
As reported, on Oct. 13, soldiers conscripted to the National Guard from Kyiv region (serving in Nos. 3027, 3030, 3066) conducted a rally in Kyiv on Bankova Street near the presidential administration, demanding demobilization.
Commanders of the National Guard called on protesters to return to their military unit for further negotiations. In addition, the first deputy head of the presidential administration of Ukraine, Hennadiy Zubko, urged them to return to the military unit, promising that he would meet with them there after Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s visit to Milan on Oct. 16-17.
He also warned them that those who came first will be held liable.
Late in the evening of Oct. 13, all the soldiers left Bankova Street and headed to their units.
