Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko urged Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Luis Santos da Costa to support the deployment of the OSCE armed police mission in Donbas.

During a bilateral meeting, which took place in the course of Poroshenko’s visit to Turkey, the Ukrainian president has drawn attention of his interlocutor to the continued violation of the Minsk agreements by Russia. He urged Portugal to endorse the deployment of the OSCE armed police mission in Donbas.

Poroshenko thanked the government of Portugal for its consistent support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in the framework of the EU and international organizations.

Poroshenko expressed his belief that a large Ukrainian community in Portugal would remain an important factor of friendly relations between the two countries. He emphasized that the introduction of the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU in the nearest future would become another step towards the enhancement of Ukraine-Portugal interpersonal contacts.

The parties noted great opportunities for the improvement of cooperation in economic sector.
