You're reading: OSCE envoy: Contact Group on Donbas acknowledges expediency to cooperate with ICRC

MINSK - Members of the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas agreed at their meeting in Minsk on July 13 that it is necessary to intensify cooperation with international organizations in the humanitarian area in the conflict zone in Donbas.

The participants in the meeting acknowledged that it is necessary to cooperate with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on the release of illegally detained persons, OSCE Special Envoy in the Contact Group Martin Sajdik said.

He went on to reveal that the subgroup also paid attention to identification of bodies of those killed in the conflict. The subgroup also discussed the issues of the release of the illegally detained and identification of people gone missing in Donbas, Sajdik said.

Sajdik also said that self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic negotiator in Minsk Denis Pushilin had given him the passport of belonging to Vasyl Slipak, a Ukrainian opera singer who served in a Ukrainian volunteer battalion and was killed by a sniper in Donbas on June 29, 2016.
