Deputy presidential chief of staff Kostiantyn Yeliseyev has met U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland. Further steps to stabilize the situation in Donbas were discussed at the meeting.

“The interlocutors discussed the state of the implementation of Minsk agreements in detail and coordinated the approaches regarding further steps aimed at achieving stable peace in Donbas,” the press service of the Ukrainian president reported early on June 23.

Special attention was paid to the provision of the implementation of the provisions of Minsk agreements in the security sphere, first of all, the provision for stable and realistic ceasefire, removal of Russian troops and machinery and halt of supplies of Russian arms and troops across the section of the Ukrainian-Russian border that is temporarily not under control of the Ukrainian government.

Yeliseyev and Nuland confirmed that there is no other alternative to the political and diplomatic way for the de-occupation of Donbas and full restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
